What Is the Brand Identity Prism?

Brand identity prism by Kapferer is a model that helps build solid brand identities. It focuses on six elements of a brand and how they relate to each other. They serve as guidelines to develop a brand.

How to Use the Brand Identity Prism?

  • The brand identity prism consists of six aspects that should be considered when developing a brand. You can use a Creately brand identity prism template to examine these elements in relation to your brand with your team.
  • The first element you need to look into is the physical characteristics or the visual image of your brand. These include brand logos, iconography, colors, shapes, etc.
  • The second element is the brand personality. Study the writing styles, tone, attitude, design, colors, copywriting, etc.
  • Then examine the culture where you should pay attention to the values, principles, origins, and behaviors. Understand how you can incorporate these cultural aspects when developing your brand.
  • Consider the relationship between your brand and your customer. What does your customer get out of your brand? See how your brand fits into the life of your customers and helps solve their problems.
  • Who is the typical user of your brand? The reflection refers to how you perceive your customer as a brand. Consider the important demographics and other qualities that characterize your consumers.
  • Self-image refers to how your customers perceive themselves. Here you need to figure out how your ideal customer wants to behave, look, feel like, etc.
  • Once the identity prism is complete, you can share it with your stakeholders with a secure diagram share link. Or embed it in your intranet, company wiki, or website with a secure Creately link.
