What is a Decision Tree?
A decision tree is a method of visualizing the possible outcomes and impact of a strategic decision. They help determine the probable results of a decision and calculate the costs, risks and benefits of a stream of decisions.
How to Make a Decision Tree?
- First determine the question or the main idea that should be evaluated to make a decision. Drag and drop a rectangle onto the canvas and type the main idea in it.
- Use circles to denote nodes that contain possible outcomes. Each node may be connected to multiple circles depending on the number of outcomes.
- As the decision tree branches out, use lines to indicate the impact (or cost) of each decision and its possible outcomes. Creately’s decision tree maker features intelligent formatting capabilities that allow you to connect shapes easily.
- Select a shape and access the panel on the right to store additional information on possible outcomes.
- All questions or points on the decision tree should be connected to a chance event. Use triangles at the end of change events to indicate an outcome.
